K1B—(Knit 1 below) Knit in the st below the next one, slipping both sts off at the same time.
Yon—yarn over needle.
M1—(Make 1) Pick up thread bet the st just worked and the next one, and knit into back of it.
Inc1—(Increase 1) K into front and back of next st
K2tog tbl—K2tog through back of loops

SLEEVE
With 3.25mm needles (UK 10-11, US 3-4) cast on 31 (33-35) sts. and work in K1 P1 rib for 2½ cms(1 in) Change to 3.75mm needles (UK 5, US 9)and work in pattern, slipping the first st of every row (where possible) to make a firmer edge.
(Row 1) Knit.
(2) K1, * K1B, K1. Rep from * to end of row.
(3) Knit
(4) K2, * K1B, K1 Rep from * to last st, K1.
Work 4 more rows of pattern. Inc 1 st both ends of next and foll 6th rows keeping patt correct, until 47 (51-55) sts. Work straight until work meas 17(19-21½) cms 6½ (7½-8½ in) Cast off loosely.

BODY (Worked in one piece to armholes, with front bands of 8 sts)
With 3.25mm needles (UK 10-11, US 3-4) cast on 103 (111-121) sts.
Foundation Row: K8, Rib 87 (95-105), K8.
Next Row: Sl 1, K7, Rib 87 (95-105), K8.
Rep this last row 3 more times.
Buttonhole Row: Sl 1, K3, yon, K2tog, Knit to end.
Change to 3.75mm needles (UK 5, US 9) and work in foll. patt.
(1) Sl 1, K8, * K1B, K1. Rep from * to last 8 sts. K8.
(2) Sl 1, Knit acoss row.
(3) Sl 1, K7, * K1B, K1. Rep from * to last 7 sts. K7
(4) Sl 1, Knit across row.
Rep this 4 row patt, making another buttonhole, 6 ½ (7½-8½) cm (2½-2¾-3¼ in) from the first. Cont until work meas. 13 (14-15) cm.
Divide for Fronts and Back.
Work 79 (85-93) sts, turn, cast off 8sts. Put the rem 24 (26-28) sts for the Front on a holding pin. Turn, work 47 (51-57) sts. Turn, cast off 8 sts. Put 24 (26-28) sts for other Front on another holding pin. Work on these 39 (43-49) sts until Back meas 17½ (18½ -19½) cm, (7-7¼-7¾ in) ending with a row 3. Purl 3 rows. Knit 1 row. Work the Yoke patt:
(1) P3 (3-1) sts * (K1, yon, K1) into next st, P3, Rep from * to end.
(2) * K3, P3. Rep from * to end of row. K3 (3-1) sts.
(3) P3 (3-1) sts *K3, P3. Rep from * to end.
(4) * K3, P3tog, Rep from * to end of row. K3 (3-1) sts.
Purl 3 rows. K 1 row Cont in Reverse stkg-st until work meas. 24½ (25½- 26½) cm. 9¾ (10-10½ in)
Shaping Back Neck: Work 12 (13-15) sts, turn, Work 2tog beg of row. Work 1 row. W2tog beg next row. Cast off. Put next 15 (17-19) sts on a safety pin. Work other side to match.
Transfer sts from one holding pin to needle. Cont in patt. until Front meas 17½ (18½ -19½) cms.(7-7¼-7¾ in) ending with a row 3. Work the Yoke patt:
(1) P0 (2-0) sts, * (K1, yon, K1) into next st, P3. Rep from * to last 8 sts. K8.
(2) Sl 1,K10, P3, * K3.P3.Rep from * to end. K0 (2-0) sts.
(3) P0 (2-0) sts, * K3, P3. Rep from * to last 8 sts. K8.
(4) Sl 1, K10, P3tog, * K3.P3tog. Rep from * to end.K0 (2-0) sts.
(5) Purl to last 8 sts, K8
(6) Sl 1, K7, Purl to end.
(7) Purl to last 8 sts. K8.
(8) Knit.
Rep these last 2 rows until work meas 23 (24-25) cm. 9 (9½-9 7/8 in) ending at armhole edge. Work 14 (16-18) sts. Turn. Cast off 2 sts beg next row. Work 1 row. Rep these last 2 rows. (Put band sts on safety pin) Work a few more rows on these 10 (12-14) sts until work meas 26 (27-28) cms. 10¼ (10¾-11 in) Cast off.
Work other Front in same manner, reversing shapings and making another buttonhole.

NECKBAND
With 3.25mm needles, (UK 10-11, US 3-4) pick up 10 sts from front band, pick up 18(19-20) sts up front neck, 15 (17-19) sts from back neck, 18 (19-20) sts down front neck, and 10 sts from front band. Rib 3 rows. Make a buttonhole on next row. Rib 2 more rows. Cast off loosely ribwise.

MAKING UP
Pin centre cast off edge of sleeve to shoulder seam. Pin ends to cast on st at armhole shaping. 2cm (3/4 in) of sleeve side seam is sewn to cast off edge of armhole. Sew up rest of sleeve seam. Attach buttons.
